Heaven is a real place described in the Bible, mentioned 276 times in the New Testament. Scripture refers to three heavens:
-
The first Heaven is the “sky” or “firmament,” where clouds and birds exist.
-
The second is outer space, home to stars and planets (Genesis 1:14-18).
-
The third is God’s sacred dwelling place, a mystery where Jesus prepares a place for true Christians (John 14:2). This is the ultimate destination for believers, promising eternal life (John 3:16).
The apostle John envisioned the heavenly city (Revelation 21:10-27), revealing it as radiant with God’s glory, where there is no night (Revelation 22:5). This city features the river of the water of life and the tree of life, restoring the paradise of Eden (Revelation 22:1-2).
Heaven is a realm of 'no mores,' free from pain, sorrow, and separation (Revelation 21:4). The most profound aspect of Heaven is the presence of our Lord and Savior, where we will be united with Him for eternity.
